When the multi-million pound development at Glass House Wharf in the heart of Bristol, Gloucestershire required decorative ceramic tiling in its main atrium, Nationwide Diamond Contracts were responsible for the planing down and subsequent grinding of the existing concrete screed.
Due to the many trades needing to work at the same time within the same area, Nationwide Diamond Contracts worked over two weekends. The constant noise of the concrete planing and grinding equipment would have been a distraction to other sub contractors.
During the planing and grinding process, regular level surveys were taken to ensure the ceramic tilers could place the tiles qickly and efficiently. The levels were checked by both Nationwide Diamond Contracts and the client’s engineer before we left site.

Nationwide Concrete Flooring are currently carrying out works at a major retail outlet in the heart of our capital city during the evening while most of us are tucked up in bed. Time constraints due to the shop being open from the hours of 21.00 hours until 8.00am mean that our working window is only 11 hours per day.
Multi-stripper for vinyl removal
The first photograph shows the floor when we arrived on site at 21.00 hours. As you can see we have to firstly remove floor covering such as heavy duty carpeting, industrial vinyl and floor tiles. We remove these floor coverings using our specifically design Nationwide Multi Stripper, Floor Planers and brute force.
The next photograph shows some of the team hard at work. As soon as an area has been stripped we immediately start the concrete grinding. As soon as the concrete floor has been sufficiently grinded down the concrete polishing commences.
The next photograph shows the concrete polishing and once we have finished this the concrete is then sprayed with our curing agent and dust inhibiting membrane which helps protect the floor over a period of time.
In this way the old floor covering is removed and the concrete floor is grinded, polished and sprayed.
