Nationwide Concrete Flooring has just completed the casting of a 12,600m2 new warehouse concrete floor slab on behalf of JZ Flowers of Newport, near brough in hull East Yorkshire over a 6 day period. Readymixed concrete supplied by Watts Mix was a consistent S3 slump class including a 30% blended cement to cater for the large bay sizes. Nationwide Concrete Flooring utilised their Somero SXP -D laser screed concrete levelling machine to carry out the concrete floor slab construction. The construction joint spacing and sawn induced joints were designed by the flooring contractor to cater for early drying shrinkage and control of the floor slab. The 2,560 linear metres of sawn induced joints were sealed using Instant Seal 101 joint sealant which instantly protects the edge of the floor joints without any curing time as the products is pre made.
The floor slab during the concreting process
The power floated concrete floor slab was laid and finished to the flatness tolerance of FM3 in accordance with the Concrete Societies Technical Report 34. The slab was spray cured using a low odour Permaban Aquacure curing agent and floor sealer. The Permaban product helps the initial curing of the concrete slab and also helps to minimise any potential dusting of the concrete in the future.
The project is the 5th phase of the expanding flower Giants business on this site alone and will hopefully be ready in time for the Christmas demand.
