Industrial Concrete Flooring Contractors, Nationwide Concrete Flooring, part of the Nationwide Diamond Group, install a Bekaert steel fibre reinforced high tolerance industrial concrete floor slab on behalf of RPC Containers in Oakham, Rutland

Yorkshire based Industrial Concrete Flooring Contractors Nationwide Concrete Flooring from Goole has recently completed the installation of a new steel fibre reinforced concrete floor slab on behalf of client RPC Containers of Oakham in Rutland. The steel fibres supplied to Nationwide Concrete Flooring by Bekaert Building Products were integrated within the concrete mix on site utilising one of the concrete flooring contractors fibre conveyor systems. The dosage of the steel fibres is then controlled on site to minimise the chance of mistakes and to ensure the mixing process is managed by the concrete flooring operatives responsible for providing the steel fibre reinforced floor slabs.

Readymixed concrete was supplied to Nationwide Concrete Flooring by Hope Construction Materials via their plant at Corby in Northamptonshire to the designed strength of 40 newtons. The concrete had to be extremely consistent to in terms of workability to cater for the addition of the Bekaert steel fibre reinforcement on site.

The power floated industrial floor slab was required because the temporary building, which was constructed over the existing car park. The concrete floor slab had  a Sika Syntop dry shake topping and surface hardener powerfloated into the surface of the concrete after the concrete placement stage. Once the Somero SXP-D laser screed concrete levelling machine had laid the steel fibre reinforced concrete the dry shake was applied to the surface of the slab by the experienced concrete floor finishing team. The Sika Syntop dry shake topping was natural in colour and helps to surpress the steel fibres and also enhances to abrasion resistance of the floor to the category of AR1. Once the dry shake sprinkle topping has been incorporated into the surface of the concrete floor slab by means of powerfloating, the floor is subsequently sprayed and cured using Sika Proseal dust inhibiting compound and curing agent.
