New warehouse concrete floor slab on behalf of The Hill Brush Company, Mere, Wiltshire

Programme – Cast in May 2016 over 6 consecutive concrete pours utilising
Somero SXP – D laser screed and Somero 3.0 XD Copperhead (areas under

Nationwide Concrete Flooring was awarded the contract to design & construct
the new 90,000 square feet warehouse industrial concrete floor slabs to the
flatness criteria of FM2 as per TR34. The Hill Brush company originally
founded in 1922 by brothers Fred and Bill Coward has been expanding quire
rapidly over the past 94 years, even into America.Further expansion
necessitated the requirement to construct a brand new premises located on a
green field site on the outskirts of Mere village itself.

Work commenced on site installing the steel column surrounds and Permaban
steel profile Eclipse joints to act as the construction joint between each
concrete pour. The average pour size equated to 1,500m2 per day, with ready
mixed concrete supplied by local company Hopkins Concrete Limited.
Once the concrete had been laid by the concrete contractors laser screed
concrete levelling machine the slabs were then power floated and
subsequently sealed using Sika Proseal curing agent and sealing membrane.The
power floated concrete slabs received induced saw cut joints the following
morning which were then sealed with the concrete contractors own joint
sealant the remarkable product for sawn joints, Instant Seal 101.
