Time constraints for the construction of new supermarket near Doncaster was no exception with the main contractor Stainforth Construction from Shipley signing up to extremely tight deadlines. This kind of job with various concrete floor slab designs, deviation in finished floor levels, dry shake surface toppings and mezzanine concrete floors really suits Nationwide Concrete Flooring down to the ground. The flexibility of Nationwide Concrete Flooring in order to agree methodology with main contractors is something the company is hoping will see them through these difficult trading conditions.
All three floor levels were poured in just one day by NCF by utilising mobile concrete pump, 3.0xd laser screed and highly skilled workforce. The interface with step in levels was formed using a Permaban stainless steel joint with square dowel bars fitted after installation. The steel joint had to be installed with precise accuracy as Netto (now owned by Asda) are very specific in their detailing in line with other floor finishes. NCF braced the joint heavily to maintain alignment and also protected the stainless steel top of the joint with protective tape. The warehouse section of the building required a dry-shake topping and surface hardener applying during the NCF finishing process. This product was applied manually by the finishing team. The remaining sales area of the building was laid with the laser screed and then finished using power floats creating a rough pan finish which offers the client accurate level tolerances along with a surface suitable to receive tiling. The following day all saw cuts were sealed and protected using Nationwide Diamond Contracts Instant Seal 101 product. One of the few joint sealants available in the market place which instantly seals saw cut joints and requires no curing time and hence instantly trafficable.

Nationwide can offer other concrete flooring systems such as those highlighted in this case study (additionally, dry shake toppings can be used for coloured concrete flooring) and others.
