A refurbished industrial warehouse on Hull’s Alexander Dock required a new concrete floor slab to support the racking systems for a new timber handling and storage facility. Nationwide Concrete Flooring designed and installed a 195mm deep steel fibre reinforced concrete floor slab using their SXP Somero Laser Screed for the laying and compacting of the steel fibre reinforced concrete.
Daily outputs of circa 350 cubic metres of concrete was supplied by Edgar Readymix of Hull . The steel fibre reinforcement supplied by Bekaert Limited was integrated within the concrete by use of Nationwide Concrete Flooring’s conveyor system. The turning motion of the concrete mixer trucks drums works to create an even distribution of the steel fibres within the concrete matrix itself.
One of the client’s requirements for the slab was the need for a straight grade fall from one end of the warehouse to the other. Co-ordinates were therefore in-putted into the SXP’s computer control panel and the fall was automatically – and accurately – set and subsequently created within the surface of the concrete floor finish
A “flat blade” anti slip surface finish was created by the companies experienced finishing team in order to provide an anti slip surface to the concrete. On completion of the concrete finishing, the sawn induced joints were cut and then sealed uing Instant Seal 101 the innovative joint sealant for saw cut joints.
