Nationwide Concrete Flooring, the industrial concrete flooring specialists has recently cast the internal reinforced concrete floor slabs for a new warehouse in Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire.
The first phase of the concreting contractors work was the initial grading and compacting of the sub base using their laser controlled sub base levelling equipment. Following the sub base levelling the steel profile permanent joints and column surrounds were installed prior to the casting of the concrete slabs. The warehouse unit totalled nearly 4,000m2 in area and were cast over a three day period using the Somero laser screed to the flatness tolerance of FM2 special as per TR34 2003 edition. The reinforced concrete slab depth was calculated by the concrete flooring contractors own “in house” floor slab designers to suit the loads from racking legs. The steel fabric mesh was laid on a “just in time” basis and supported on spacers 50mm high from the sub base.
The industrial concrete flooring contractors saw cut the concrete slabs early the following morning and subsequently seal the sawn induced joints at the same time with the innovative product Instant Seal 101 joint sealant system. The Instant Seal protects the joint arris and improves cleanliness of the joints during trafficking.
Two days prior to handover Nationwide Concrete Flooring returned to the site and cleaned the concrete floor slabs using their scrubber dryer system. Utilising the concrete floor cleaners and two skilled operatives the entire warehouse floor was cleaned over a two day period.
