Laser Screed Concrete Floor with Dry Shake Topping & Surface Hardener

Concrete flooring contractors Nationwide Concrete Flooring from Goole in Yorkshire has recently omelettes the design and construction of a new reinforced concrete ground bearing floor slab in the remote location of Small Dole, just outside of Brighton.

Nationwide Concrete Flooring proposed a slab overlay method of construction to allow the new floor to move and shrink freely without being locked or restrained from the existing slab beneath.

Utilising their laser controlled sub Basel levelling machine, the concrete flooring contractor installed a sub base transfer layer ranging from 20 to 85mm in depth. By using their state of the art concrete flooring equipment the concrete flooring contractor created an almost perfect working platform with which to lay the polythene membrane and 125mm deep reinforced concrete slab. The cast insitu concrete floor slab was laid utilising Nationwide Concrete Flooring’s smaller laser screed machine, the Somero Copperhead 3.0 XD laser screed. This laser screed concrete floor laying and compacting machine is capable of laying the concrete floor whilst travelling over the pre installed steel fabric reinforcement. Ideal for areas with tight access or low headroom and or working in conjunction with a mobile concrete pump.

To enhance the aesthetics of the concrete floor slab and to increase both longevity and the surface abrasion resistance of the concrete floor, a SIka Syntop light grey dry shake topping was powerfloated and incorporated into the concrete surface. The light grey sprinkle topping has to be extremely careful panned into the surface of the concrete using the concrete flooring contractors large “ride on” powerfloat machines. On completion of the powerfloating of the dry shake surface hardener, the floor was sealed with Sika Proseal curing agent and dust inhibiting compound. The following day, early in the high temperatures the sawn induced stress relief joints were installed and subsequently sealed using the concrete flooring contractors own joint sealant, Instant Seal 101. The only joint sealant for floor joints that requires no curing time.
