Coloured concrete floor slab for steel fibre reinforced warehouse floor, Lincolnshire

Nationwide Concrete Flooring are specialists in concrete flooring solutions for clients in the commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors, and so were the natural choice for this client when they required a coloured concrete floor slab for their new warehouse in Lincolnshire. Due to the configuration of the building, the loading criteria from the high bay racking and overall serviceability requirements Nationwide Concrete Flooring, the local concrete flooring contractor for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, agreed a jointless steel fibre reinforced concrete solution along with a green dry shake topping (which provides the colour you see in the floor without any of the slip-hazards associated with a painted surface) and surface hardener with both the client and main contractor. Using a high dosage of Bekaert steel fibres negates the requirements for any saw cut induced contraction joints within the floor slab structure. This is a major benefit to end users when constantly operating fork lift trucks over the entire footprint of the concrete floor area. To the increase abrasion resistance of the surface of the concrete floor slab a green dry shake topping manufactured by permaban was power floated into the concrete using large hydrostatic “ride on” power floats. Nationwide Concrete Flooring specialise in the application of dry shake surface hardeners and so with the use of high tech equipment and extremely experienced concrete finishing and polishing team are able to provide an excellent end product. At the level access doorway openings stainless steel Permaban construction joints were installed by Nationwide Concrete Flooring in order to provide full load transfer between the internal and external concrete floor slabs and also edge protection to either side of the concrete. Using stainless steel joints also helps protect against potential rust marks which could spoil the looks of the slab and also cause a hygiene problem for the client. The slab was levelled and compacted using the Laser guided levelling machine and laid using the Somero SXP-d laser screed. Should you require any further details on the wide range of dry shake coloured concrete floor hardeners offered by Yorkshire’s local concrete flooring contractor, then please see the dry shake page on our website under the internal floor section on our services page
