This warehouse extension in Boston totalled 35,000 square feet in size and was carried out over three consecutive days by Nationwide Concrete Flooring the Yorkshire based laser screed concrete flooring contractors.
Nationwide Concrete Flooring designed and constructed the concrete floor slab utilising the latest in steel fibre technology and steel fabric mesh reinforcement. The steel fibres manufactured by Bekaert were 60mm long and 1mm in diameter. The floor slab was 275mm deep and designed to span across the pre cast piles. The concrete flooring contractors used their Somero SXP-D laser screed concrete laying machine in order to lay the concrete floor slabs to the flatness tolerance of FM2 special as per TR34 2003 edition. Once the steel fibre concrete had been laid by the laser screed, the concrete finishing team applied a dry shake topping and surface hardener manufactured by Permaban. The slab was cast up to a Permaban Signature permanent steel profile joint, positioned away from racking legs to allow the shrinkage of the floor slab to take place. The unique profile of the Signature joint allows the joint to be trafficked without disruption and hence increases the lifespan of the floor slab.
