Alan-Johnson-honours-Nationwide Diamond Group
On 5th March 2010 Jon Wilcox, Sales Director of Nationwide Concrete Flooring Limited, was invited by the Local Employment Charter to accept an employer award from Home Secretary, Alan Johnson at the Guild Hall in Hull, East Yorkshire.
The award recognises companies who value and train their employees and work for the good of their local communities. Nationwide Concrete Flooring are proud of this achievement.
Nationwide Diamond Contracts recently completed the removal of circa 400m2 of 350/400mm deep concrete reinforced floor slab in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire over a 5 day period from start to finish. The project was particularly awkward due to access problems caused by the concrete floor slabs varying in level due to the different processes required by the end user.
Removal of steel fibre reinforced 450mm deep concrete floor slab
Nationwide Diamond Contracts had to use their full range of concrete floor sawing and diamond blade equipment including the XLS 56565xx & 345353 ring saw in order to be able to take out the large areas of concrete floor slab in such a short space of time. The thumbnail photograph alongside shows one of our trained operatives using the xl 2562 ring saw to cut through the reinforced concrete floor slab.
Once the concrete floor slabs had been cut and removed Nationwide Diamond Contracts then had to drill and dowel the saw cut edges of the concrete floor slab in a 2 layered system to allow the best load transfer from one concrete floor slab to the other. Nationwide Diamond Contracts have the perfect tools for this very labour intensive task in the EZ Drill 210BSRA and the EX drill XLX 5650. Please see adjacent pictures to see the EZ Drills in action. Please note that not only are we able to offer highly competitive rates to drill and dowel concrete floor slabs using the Nationwide Diamond Contracts EZ Drill systems but it is also a much safer method of installing steels dowels into concrete floor slabs and negates the potential problem of operator fatigue etc.

Nationwide Diamond Contracts have just completed the concrete grinding and concrete multi planing of a sports retail complex at Queensway Retail Park, Stafford on behalf of Stainforth Construction. The concrete floor had previously received a vinyl and carpet tile finish which the tenant used to demonstrate a multitude of sporting activities.
With the aid of our skilled operatives and concrete floor grinding equipment Nationwide Diamond Contracts managed to complete the entire footprint of the floor area circa 2,400m2 over a 2 day period which required us to use 2 shifts and work throughout the night. Many other trades were working within the same area but with the 316 dust suppression units in full flow, minimal disruption was encountered. On completion the client’s agent inspected the concrete floor grinding and immediately allowed the following trade to commence proceedings.
Caddick Construction of Knottingley recently awarded the contract at the Headingley Rugby League Stadium near Leeds to Nationwide Diamond Contracts for the repair, sealant and grinding works to the concrete terracing for the South Stand.
The project had an extremely tight schedule to meet as the traditional boxing day fixture between Leeds and Wakefield as an average attendance of 15,000 people and so hence the stand must be re opened in time for the match.
Nationwide had to select materials suitable for working in sub zero temperatures, with the capabilities of withstanding heavy foot trafficking along with the structural stability to appease the clients appointed engineer White Young Green. The vast experience of our Production Supervisor Mr Billy Hillyard and the other Nationwide staff in carrying out this type of works enabled the project to run incredibly smoothly both in terms of timescales and quality of workmanship.
As illustrated in the photographs many different types of repair , grinding and sealant works were carried out during the construction programme period. Nationwide are lucky enough to already own a wide range of grinding, planning, sealing and other types of concrete repair equipment within the group suitable for this type of stadia repair and refurbishment. Nationwide Concrete Flooring has completed another concrete floor slab for supermarket chain Netto in Bradford, Yorkshire.
The Concrete floor slab was particularly difficult to construct due to the extremely tight access restrictions.
From the photographs you can see that all of the concrete needed to be pumped via a mobile pump and access limited only one mixer truck on site at any one time.
1,400m2 of concrete was laid with a full power float finish in just one day. This equated to a total volume of 280m3.

Nationwide Concrete Flooring are now building up a reputation within this fairly buoyant market place and the unique system adopted for internal concrete floor slabs used for bulk storage is proving rather popular. Photographed is our very latest project carried out on behalf of Yorkshire Feedstuffs Limited of Goole, East Yorkshire.
Our client was impressed with our innovative ideas on how to deal with the existing internal concrete floor slab and the interface details we put forward to improve the longevity of both of the internal concrete floor slabs. Shown in the photograph is our Nationwide concrete drilling and dowelling system which installs the 600mm steel bars at centres to suit the design. The Nationwide concrete drilling and dowelling system offers an extremely safe, quick and accurate solution to what can be a very difficult job. The purpose of the dowel is to help transfer the load from one section of the internal concrete floor slab to the other whilst being trafficked. This will then minimise any damage caused at the interface due to heavy trafficking from both loading shovel and delivery wagons. The internal concrete floor slab also received our other now typical details suitable for any concrete floor used for agricultural bulk storage which is our “Tight Bladed” finish to the concrete floor slab and our own Nationwide Instant Seal 101 joint sealant used in the saw cut induced contraction joints. The Instant Seal 101 joint sealant provides protection the joints to minimise break down of the edges, stops ingress into the joint of the bulk material, allows immediate trafficking of the sealed floor slab joints and aids maintenance of the concrete floor slab for the end user. Saw cut induced contraction joints sealed with Instant Seal 101
Instant Seal 101 has been used to seal the saw cut induced contraction joints for a large distribution centre in Dewsbury, Nr Wakefield, Yorkshire.
As you can see from the photographs the Instant Seal 101 is heavily trafficked hour after hour day after day. The joint sealant is now 16 months old and still in excellent condition leaving the client very pleased with the durability and longevity of the product. We have been to inspect the joints in conjunction with the clients representative and it has been found that the Instant Seal 101 as yet does not need replacing in any of the saw cut joints.
Not only does the Instant Seal 101 help against debris ingress into the joint but also helps protect the arris edge of the concrete floor slab from breaking down under trafficking. This feature not only improves the aesthetic features but also minimises long term maintenance expenditure for the client/end user/contractor.

Wide bay external concrete floor 25 x 40m slab
Nationwide Concrete Flooring specialise in the design and construction of wide bay external concrete floor slabs.
The adjacent photograph shows an external floor slab in Melton, East Yorkshire that was flood poured with help of the laser levelling control. There are many benefits to using this system both for the main contractor and the end user. Some of these are that joints are minimised saving on remedial sealant costs and time saving due to the large areas. We agree the reinforcement detail with the engineer or indeed specify ourselves dependant upon the type of contract we are involved in. The levels and falls are agreed between both parties and the casting methods are sometimes dictated to by the layout of the buildings, obstructions etc. There are numerous different types of reinforcement available on the market and we as a reputable flooring contractor help the client or main contractor to decide on the most suitable reinforcement for the project.

Grain Store Concrete Floor on Market Weighton farm near York
Nationwide Concrete Flooring are pleased and proud to be associated with a real life television star, James Stephenson of Arras Hill Farm in Market Weighton.
James appeared on the channel five programme “Farmer Wants a Wife” last summer. Unfortunately however he did not manage to either mention Nationwide Concrete Flooring Limited were working for him or pull one of the birds in the show.
Polished concrete floor for grain store
Shockingly, the beautiful power trowelled shiny new concrete floor slab did not even feature! Fortunately for disappointed viewers and the people reading this page we have a photograph of the floor slab.
You will note the concrete floor slab has been sprayed with our curing agent which also acts as a dust inhibitor. We then saw-cut the joints the following day and seal the joints with our own Instant Seal 101 which stops grain ingression into the joints which vastly assists maintenance and cleaning operations for James and other farmers/clients.
